Equestrian Escape | Photography workshop in Milton, ON

Last fall, I had the incredible opportunity to attend a workshop hosted by Olga Pavlova, a talented photographer who provides workshops in the Greater Toronto Area. I had wanted to attend one of Olga's workshops for a while, and when I saw this one, I knew it would be perfect. Held at a picturesque farm, I had the chance to photograph a stunning horse and model in a beautiful barn setting. Surrounded by the charm of the countryside, this experience deepened my passion for capturing the unique bond between horses and their riders.

The day started with rain in the morning, and there was some discussion about rescheduling the workshop. Thankfully, the rain clouds cleared up as the day went on, leaving us with a mix of clouds to start and ending in a beautiful golden hour. The first half of our session was spent under a cloudy sky in the barn, where the rustic textures of the wooden walls and the natural light streaming through the windows created a stunning backdrop. Capturing the connection between the model and the horse in this intimate setting was a challenge I thoroughly enjoyed.

Next, we moved to the haystacks, where the earthy tones and soft lighting added a cozy vibe to the photos. We first photographed the model on her own, creating elegant and timeless portraits. Then, as the sun began to lower, we had the opportunity to capture some breathtaking golden hour shots of the horse and rider outdoors. The golden light wrapped around them, creating an almost magical glow. It was the perfect end to an already amazing day, and I left feeling inspired and excited for what’s next.
